Being Green With Your Wardrobe: Eco-Friendly Fashion Tips For Guys and Gals

The best way to show off how Eco-friendly you are becoming, is to put a "green"spark in your own wardrobe.
Here are some types of clothing that are organic, meaning that the cloth is made from a natural substance. By having clothes made from organic fabrics, the clothes can be worn multiple times without wearing out as easily as designer brand clothes and the organic fashion trend is definitely on rise to become the newest hot thing to wear.

  • The most common organic fabric used in making clothes is cotton.  Cotton is a strong fabric that has many purposes in the fashion world...whether it is made into a dress or a even socks...cotton can be used in creating the multiple types of clothes.

  • Another organic fabric that is growing to be a favorable fashion resource is hemp. Hemp is known for being very durable, has shown resistance to ultra-violet light and mold,  and with new technology of processing clothing the original coarse and rough form of the fabric is able to be made into a comfortable, soft cloth to wear. Also hemp is used in making other fashion statements with jewelry such as hemp bracelets and necklaces...which is a popular wardrobe accessory amongst every gal and guy.

So I hope that helps you all choose a greener way to shop for clothes at the mall.
And trust me, trying on something different in your wardrobe will definitely help you make an awesome fashion statement that will make all your friends to join  you in becoming an environmental conscious person.

Being Green with your School: Learning to Recycle

In my previous posts I have talked about how you can be environmentally friendly in your own home. Well I was thinking if you can successfully be environmentally conscious with your family, why not help your school community become as environmentally aware as yourself. So one way that really ignites the beginning of a school becoming Eco-friendly is to start a simple recycling program. This can be easily done with the help from your classmates and teachers.
First of all to start recycling at your school you should have designated recycling bins. One recycling for paper and another bin for plastic bottles, aluminum cans, and etc. There also needs to be certain places in classroom and around the school campus to put the recycling bins.

As you can see in this picture the recycling bin is blue which is helpful to tell the difference between the trash can and the bin. Also the small blue bins are typically used for paper.

For example at my high school I used these recycling bins in the classrooms and put near the door so that they can be easily located.

In this picture you can tell that there is a clear distinction between the recycling bins used for paper versus a bin used for plastic, glass and aluminum. With this recycling bin it can be put either in a lunch or near the trash cans around the school grounds, so that recycling can be made easy.

Hope these tips  will help you and your classmates make recycling a simple process for your school.
Now remember to always Reduce Reuse Recycle !!!!

In order to create an environmentally friendly home, you don't have to sacrifice putting your own touch of style. There is actual paint that exists that makes you feel like a "green" person, and a "bright" colorful artist.
If you want to splash your room with a  new color, the paints Low- VOC are the most recommendable. These paints do not consists all the harsh chemicals that produce an all too familiar strong odor. The most common brand using Low -VOC is Benjamin Moore paint. It puts a natural touch to all the colors that can brighten your room. So, now you can paint with ease without having to hold your breath or wear a mask.

Being Green Around the Home: Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs

Everyone wants to make the planet into a "greener" more environmentally sound place.
So, what better than to start with your own home. Here are 3 simple ways to begin your green renovation.

Switching out your old incandescent light bulbs with CFLs (compact fluorescent light bulbs).
These light bulbs come in different designed bulbs and even different colors so you could make the lighting in your room to match your mood.
Also by using CFLs you are actually saving energy and saving money. In fact just by switching your light bulbs, you can save as much as $30 and the bulbs use 75 % less energy over its lifetime. The light bulbs are able to last 10 times longer than the typical light bulb. Now who can beat a deal like that, being green while also saving you some dough!
